Questions to ask your wedding photographer Ica Images DC Wedding Photographer.jpg

+ What styles do you specialize in?

Timeless, luminous & wholehearted imagery. All though some might categorize my work as light and airy, I don’t believe I’m specifically light and airy nor dark and moody. I find myself in the middle, capturing images with as “true to life” tones as possible.

Every wedding day I take an even mixture of fine art formal portraits, candids, photo journalistic/story telling images, & detail photos.

+ Will the photos be retouched and color balanced? Is that done before I see the proofs?

All photos are professionally edited, retouched and color balanced as needed prior to gallery delivery. Images that are unedited & RAW are not the finished product and won’t be accessible, only finished edited images will be given to clients.

+ Do you shoot both digital and film?

Yes, I shoot both. I shoot which ever form I see best fit for each location and lighting scenario throughout a wedding day. Film does best in sunlight & Digital does best during evening/low light scenarios.

+ If you shoot film do you usually shoot in both color and black and white? If you’ll do both what percentage of each do you recommend?

I shoot which ever film best suits the lighting scenario and moment. I 90-100% colored film and only occasionally capture black and white film. About 5% of your wedding gallery will be black and white images (either film or digital).

+ What exactly is included in your collections?

It depends on which collection you choose.

All collections included

  • hours of photography coverage
  • 30 minute engagement session
  • professionally edited images
  • a private online gallery of your finished images, approximately 100 images per hour of coverage

Some collections include

  • 2nd photographer
  • Heirloom album

+ Will you be my actual photographer or will it be one of your associates?

Absolutely! If you collection includes 1 photographer, that will be me. If your collection includes two photographers that will me myself and a second photographer of my choosing.

+ Do you have backup photographers who will shoot the wedding if you’re sick?

Yes! In the rare case this should happen, my second photographer will become the lead photographer and I will contract a 2nd photographer to assist them.

+ How long will it take to see my photos?

Engagement Portrait sessions will be available for online viewing approximately 2-4 weeks after the session.
Weddings galleries are available about 4-6 weeks after the wedding

+ Will you follow a shot list or do you prefer to have free reign to capture the festivities how you see fit?

In my 10 years of wedding photography experience, I no longer need to follow any shot list. If you invested money into something for your wedding day I will photograph it & I do my best to photograph everyone I know is closest to you (family, friends, bridal party) and of course wedding guest throughout your special day.

The only type of shot list that I would need would be for special family dynamics that you’d like me to be aware and cognizant of, or sentimental items you want me to photograph that I wouldn’t know about.

+ If you provide print albums, what type of paper will you use?

Acid free, archival paper in luste finish (a mix of glossy and matte that doesn’t get dirty from finger prints)

I own the copyright but you as the client have the right to use all your images for personal use and may share images online. More information about my copyright policy is included in the contract.

+ Do you bring your own lighting?

Yes, I bring minimal & discrete off camera lighting to every wedding in case I need more light for photos. I work hard to communicate with the venue & other vendors when setting up my lighting.

+ What will you wear?

I always try to blend in on a wedding day by matching the formality of your guests & also wear garments that allow me to do my job as effectively as possible.
