Fine Art Film Photography: Washington, DC | Film Theory Workshop Part 1

I rarely win anything on Instagram but last September I received the best surprise in my DM’s & won a seat to The Film Theory Workshop from Portrait Meet DC’s instagram giveaway.

It was the wildest & most wonderful opportunity to attend Rudney Novaes & Natalie Jayne’s film workshop here at DC’s Tutor Place. Rudney & Natalie are some of the kindest & most patient educators. Their love for film is contagious & their guidance & encouragement have been such a sweet gift to receive.

I am a better photographer for having attended such an incredible workshop & I’m completely obsessed with film these days. Even though I grew up shooting film in high school, I was so afraid to shoot film professionally for fear of messing up. Now I see that, that was silly of me to think, because after getting my film scans back, every image turned out just as dreamy as I had hoped, if not more!

I’ve got so much more goodness from this workshop to share so look out for parts 2 & 3 of this workshop in future blog posts. For now enjoy these film images I shot on Kodak Portra400 film from my Mamiya 645, scanned & developed by Photo Vision Prints. I’m so use to editing my life away, it was the greatest gift to receive these perfect images without needing a single edit.

*Rudney thank you for taking this shot with my camera. I’m so glad I have it to remember this workshop.

A million thank you’s go out to this incredible vendor team who crafted the most beautiful styled shoots for us to capture. I felt spoiled rotten with gorgeousness all day long, it was such an honor to capture such stunning work. Thank you again & again!
