Outer Banks , North Caroline Wedding Vow Renewal | Terrence & Joan's 10 Year Anniversary

A few weeks ago my family and I took a well-needed vacation to the Outer Banks to celebrate my sister and her husband’s 10 year wedding anniversary. In true 2020 fashion, a number of things didn’t go as planned. There was incredible flooding on the main roadways throughout Hatteras Island because of tropical storm Teddy just off-shore. This flooding prevented some of the family from being able to vacation with us, which was awful because like every family in 2020, we’ve never longed to be with family more than any other year. And due to strong winds and waves, we weren’t able to do very much on the ocean side of the island.

But even still, this vacation was covered in joy and so many sweet blessings. The Lord provided sunshine during fleeting moments that we prayed for, we had a hidden little beach on the sound side of the island all to ourselves for my sister’s vow renewal, virtual/distance teaching & learning allowed my husband and the kids to still do school work, while still enjoying being on vacation mode. The sweetest gift of all was truly the gift of being together.

I apologize in advance because this may just be the longest blog post I’ve ever shared. I’m just so smitten by every sweet moment of my big sister, Joan & Terrence’s vow renewal. Every bit of that day was an adventure, with joy & silliness at every turn. It was so sweet to have my husband share some words of encouragement & pray over my sister & Terrence, & the family. He had us all crying at one point and none of us were ready for it. Terrence & my sister exchanged beautiful vows while the kids behaved like angels. Seeing my mom standing next to my sister’s two girls made me so grateful for having grown up with my big sis & my mom always by my side, and here we are 10 years later with more family than we started with. Finally, one of my favorite moments from that day was when Everly yelled “You may now kiss the bride!” right before her parents exchanged rings & it had all of giggling so hard. I’m so grateful for this trip and time with my amazing family.

Terrence and Ate Joan, I love you both so much. Thank you for making me an Auntie to three of my favorite kiddos in the whole world. It’s been such a joy watching the Lord work through your marriage over the 10 years & I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years hold. I echo so many of Tim’s words, I know Daddy would be so proud of you both. I pray that as the years continue on, that you both would continue to fall more in love with the Lord while loving each other well. Happy Anniversary Team Limos!
